EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 676 1796 S-116 R5- Draped Bust AG3+. The obverse is slightly better while the reverse is a bit weaker (which is typical for Draped Bust 1796 cents), the AG3+ grade an average of the two. Glossy steel brown and chocolate. No roughness or verdigris, only minor contact marks consistent with the grade including a collection of tiny ticks under the hair ribbon and more left of the O in ONE. The bottom edge of the date is starting to wear in to the rim but it is easily readable and nearly complete. EDS. A decent low-grade example of this tough die variety.

LOT 678 1796 S-119 R3 Draped Bust ANACS graded Fair-2 Holed. Glossy steel and light chocolate. Smooth and free of significant marks other than a small drilled hole at the end of the bust. Basically just a well worn cent with a small hole. The bottom of the date is worn into the rim but the rest is easily readable as are most of the legends on the reverse. Our grade is Fair-2 Holed, same as the ANACS assessment. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label.

 RARE LATE STATE S-131

LOT 679 1797 S-131 R2 Stemless Wreath G4. Slightly sharper but covered with very fine scratches on microscopically granular surfaces. No verdigris and the best identifying mark is a dull rim nick under the 1 in the date. Very slightly glossy dark olive and steel brown. The date is weak but readable and the legends are clear. Rare LDS, Breen state V, with a raised cud break on the right side of the obverse.
