LOT 429 1826 N-9 R3 EF40. Frosty brown and light chocolate. Satiny and very attractive. Struck slightly off center to the top leaving some dentils off the planchet. A nick between the feet of the N & T in CENT and a puff of lighter toning on the left end of the line below CENT are the only notable marks. MDS with a few faint die cracks.

LOT 428 1826 N-7 R1 VF35+. Beautiful glossy tan and light brown with tiny speckles of darker olive brown toning on the reverse. Mint frost shows in protected areas. Smooth with just trivial marks including a couple ticks on the jawline and a rim nick at the N in UNITED. LDS, Grellman state d, with flowlined fields and a small void at the dentil roots under the 82.

LOT 430 1827 N-7 R3 AU50. Frosty medium steel brown with lighter steel brown in protected areas. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. The only mark is a thin vertical nick on the jaw. LDS, Grellman state b. The die lines right of the second S in STATES are gone. In addition there is a small but clearly visible lump under the lower lip (similar to the lumps found on the profile of the later states of 1827 N-11).

LOT 431 1828 N-4 R4 PCGS XF Detail, Scratch. Frosty light brown with small areas of darker olive brown toning in protected areas. Possibly retoned. The surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal of this cent is nice, but a glass reveals several fine, light scratches on the obverse and one slanting through EN in CENT. The scratches are mostly confined to the portrait but they are old and do not break the toning. The best identifying marks are a dull scratch along the jawline left of the ear lobe and a small rim nick over the second T in STATES. Our grade is VF30 sharpness net VF20. A variety that is very difficult to find in grades above Fine. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 36883.95/35754870

LOT 432 1828 N-12 R3+ F12. Slightly sharper but recolored mostly glossy dark steel. Smooth with minor nicks on the obverse including a couple small ones over the hair bun and several more tiny ones on the neck. Sharply struck, and the die crack at CA is clear.
