LOT 346 1802 S-237 R2 VG10. Sharpness VF25 but the planchet is covered with fine to moderate roughness, strongest on the right half of the obverse. Traces of yellow crud or verdigris show in protected areas on the left side of the reverse. There are a few dull, old scratches on the face with one extending into the hair. Dark olive brown and steel. LDS, Breen state IX, with die cracks on the reverse and a narrow rim cud at STAT.

LOT 347 1802 S-238 R4 PCGS XF Detail, Environmental Damage. Recolored glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter brown and tan in protected areas. Smooth with just a few marks including a thin nick on the chin, another under the 8, a rim bruise opposite the mouth, and a few dull scratches over CENT. MDS, Breen state III, with die cracks on the reverse. This is the Breen plate in for the variety in his big blue encyclopedia. Graded VF30 and tied for finest in the Bland census. Noyes says net VF25 but still in the condition census, his photo #23238. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF25.
