LOT 224 1798 S-167 R1 Large 8, Style II Hair VF20 Sharpness VF35 but there are some rim bruises on both sides, notably left of the hair ribbon and along the bottom of the reverse. In addition there are a few light hairline scratches in the field before the face and a couple nicks at the first A in AMERICA. Glossy reddish steel and chocolate with frosty tan in protected areas on the reverse. MDS, Breen state IV, with die cracks but no cud breaks. $1,250

LOT 225 1798 S-167 R1 Large 8, Style II Hair VG8 Sharpness VF25 but covered with fine to moderate roughness. Hairline scratches cover the obverse fields and there are a few specks of verdigris on the reverse. Slightly glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. EDS. The die chips from the E in UNITED are barely visible, more of a fine crack than the usual chips. A scudzy example of a neat die state. $250
