LOT 88 1832 C-3 R2 MS61 Brown NGC. Frosty light to medium olive brown and steel on the obverse while the reverse is a lighter shade of brown blending to light chocolate in some areas. Satiny mint luster shows in protected areas, especially on the obverse. There is a very light scuff of hairlines on the cheek and jaw and traces of soft verdigris at the F in OF and at CA into the leaves below. MDS with lightly flowli ned fields and the usual die rust on the reverse. The repunching on the D in UNITED is sharp. Our grade is AU55. 3662068-002 $550 Ex Chris McCawley 5/18/2014-The J. 1833 C-1 R1 MS64+ Brown NGC. Very attractive half cent with choice, satiny surfaces. The obverse is lustrous light olive and bluish steel with very faded mint red in protected areas. The reverse is lustrous slightly mellowed red fading to light steel brown with more than a third of the surface showing faded mint color. There is a subtle swipe of darker steel brown toning right of stars 1 & 2, a small speck of greenish verdigris under the right top of the T in CENT, and traces of an old fingerprint at the end of the wreath stem. Sharply struck MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2, with the usual fine die crack through stars 2-7 and multiple sets of die clashmarks on the reverse. Our grade is MS63.
