EARLY CENTS

LOT 82 1828 C-1 R1 13-Star Obverse, MS64 Brown PCGS. Lustrous light brown with overtones of frosty light bluish steel in protected areas. A small splash of lighter reddish tan under the F in HALF can identify this piece. Satiny mint frost covers both sides and the eye appeal is excellent. The only notable contact marks are a thin nick right of star 4 and another under the first S in STATES. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman 2, with clashmarks inside the wreath and traces of die rust visible over the first A in AMERICA. The repunching on star 2 is clear. The reverse of this piece is plated in the Breen encyclopedia to illustrate the reverse of the variety. Our grade is MS63. Comes with a nice provenance. This piece is listed third in the Breen condition census for the variety (see page 329 in his half cent encyclopedia). Housed in an older generation PCGS holder. 1147.64/83100487 $6,250 Ex Sam J.
