1083 Syria. Cyrrhestica. Bambyke–Manbog. In the name of ‘Abyaty (ca.370s/340s BC). Silver Shekel – Didrachm (7.52 g; 22 mm). Draped female bust facing, wearing pearl necklace, radiate coiffure; (Aramaic hdd w ’th (Hadad and Ateh) and circle at left). Reverse: Persian satrap and driver, holding reins, in quadriga of mules right; Aramaic ’byty (‘Abyaty) above, trace of Aramaic countermark on midsection of mule. Andrade Series 1, Issue 1, 9 (O3/R6) = Mildenberg, Note 3; HGC 9, 1344. Very rare , with only ten examples recorded in Andrade. Toned over minor roughness. Good Very Fine. Meshorer, Nabataea –; Barkay R., ‘The Coinage of the Nabataean King Obodas II’, in NC 176 (2016), 30. Only one specimen was known to Barkay, this would be the second. Extremely rare and important. Scratch on cheek, Sharp strike. Toned. Extremely Fine.
