1078 Phoenicia. Sidon. Ba`alsillem (Sakton) II (ca. 401-365 BC). Silver Double Shekel (28.03 g). Phoenician galley left; Phoenician letter B above, waves below. Reverse: Persian king and driver in chariot drawn by two horses left; King of Sidon standing left, in Egyptian dress, behind, holding cultic scepter. Betlyon 18; Rouvier 1096; HGC 10, 236; Sunrise 125. Small obverse flan flaw, minor roughness. Very Fine.

1079 Philistia (Palestine). Azotos (Ashdod). Silver Drachm (3.30 g; 15 mm), mid 5th Century-333 BC. Bearded head right. Reverse: Facing female head, her hair in an Egyptian-style bob, wearing necklace, in pelleted square within incuse square. Unpublished, but cf. HGC 10, 474; and Gitler & Tal II.8D for a similar reverse type. Extremely rare and apparently the third known specimen. Test cut lower reverse. Toned. Very Fine.

Confronted archaic male and female heads, each wearing a headdress in the form of the forepart of a lion, the male bearded. Reverse: Archaic bearded male head right wearing headdress in the form of the forepart of a lion, Aramaic letter shin lower left, all within a beaded square. Gitler & Tal--; Sofaer 258; Meshorer & Qedar 34 corr (headdresses not noted); HGC 10. Extremely rare . Some pinscratches in margin. Toned. Good Very Fine.
