1009 Sicily. Syracuse. Silver Tetradrachm (17.25 g), ca. 415-405 BC. Signed by Eumenes and/or Eukleidas on both sides. Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving fast quadriga left, Victory flying right above crowning him with a wreath held in both hands, EV below, two dolphins confronted in exergue. Reverse: ΣYPAKOΣIO-N (the N retrograde), diademed head of Arethusa left, wearing earring and necklace, EV behind neck below, four dolphins around. SNG ANS 263; Tudeer 32. Pearlescent charcoal-gray tone over old graffito ‘A’ on obverse. Choice Very Fine.
