EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 80 Pair of Half Cents 1794 & 1808. Pair of Half Cents including a 1794 C-4a R-3 graded F15 net AG3 for corrosion, and an 1808 C-3 R-1 EDS graded VF25 net F12 for fine granularity.  DOUBLE STRUCK

LOT 81 1797 C-1 R-2 1 Above 1 FR2. AG3+ but there are notable digs on both sides, mostly the obverse, with wispy pin scratches on the central reverse. Double struck, the second strike 110 degrees clockwise, with a distinct bust tip and second date before Liberty’s face, on the obverse ass well as a second OF on the lower reverse. The date is weak but readable and the 1 above 1 feature clear. M-LDS.

LOT 82 1803 C-3 R-2 VG8. VF sharpness but cleaned and retoned golden brown with bluish steel toning highlighting the devices and legends. There are faint hairlines visible stop the portrait and in the obverse fields, otherwise free of notable marks. Smooth, glossy surfaces. Reverse die crack from the dentils above the second T in STATES curved down through the wreath and F in HALF to the dentils between M and E in AMERICA.

LOT 84 1809 C-4 R-2 Circle in 0 VG10. Fine sharpness but there are several minor marks on both sides and old crud in some reverse protected areas. The most notable include a pair on the obverse dentils at K-1, one over T in CENT, another on C in AMERICA, and a hairline scratch over CE in CENT. Otherwise the medium brown surfaces are smooth and glossy with a clear circle in 0 feature.

LOT 85 1809 C-6 R-1 AU55. Attractive tan brown and light steel mellowed down from very faded mint color. Free of notable marks with some rub on the high points. Frosty luster remains on the surfaces, especially on the reverse.

LOT 83 1808 C-3 R-1 F12. A few points sharper but cleaned and now toned a pleasing medium brown and light steel. There is a faint hairline scratch through the bust tip to the right dentils, and traces of old crud around the wreath, neither very distracting and trivial marks otherwise. Smooth, glossy surfaces.
