N-8 TIED FOR CC#4 EX NAFTZGER

LOT 132 1825 N-8 R3+ PCGS graded MS62 Brown . Lustrous light steel brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices. The notable marks are a vertical swipe of reddish steel toning between the C & E in CENT and a spot of darker brown toning left of that C. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal is excellent. MDS, die state b, with a fine die crack from the rim through star 6 to the tip of the coronet. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #31609. LOT 133 1825 N-9 R2 PCGS graded MS65 Brown . Lustrous steel brown, light chocolate, and golden tan with faded mint color showing in protected areas on both sides. The left side of the reverse is a couple shades darker than the right side. Flawless except for faint traces of an old fingerprint around star 3, a tiny speck of crud under star 8, and a few microscopic ticks under the right side of the N in CENT. M-LDS, die state c early, with an extremely faint die crack arcing from the field above star 3 to the brow lock. Sharply struck with full radial lines in all the stars. The fields are hard and very slightly reflective. A beautiful cent. Called MS65 and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#3, his photo #21821.
