Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1
THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION
CONDITION CENSUS N-14 RARITY
LOT 113 1822 N-14 R6+ PCGS graded G6 . Glossy chocolate brown with slightly lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth with minor contact marks consistent with the grade. The best identifying marks are a small nick under star 5, a dull nick that blunts the inner point of star 8, and two small spots of darker toning on the hair bun. Nicely struck except for weakness in the center of the reverse, as usual for this very rare die pairing. This is a relatively new discovery and it is one of the finer examples known of the variety. Our grade is G6 (although the obverse is closer to VG7), CC#4 or 5 for the variety in our census of the 15 examples known to us. Most of those 15 are in low grade and most come with significant defects such as damage or corrosion. This is the second-highest grade assigned to the variety by PCGS. Noyes photo #68798. This may be the lowest graded cent in this great collection, but it is one of the most important. 36751.06/37736013

LOT 114 1823/2 N-1 R2 Overdate 3 over 2, PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved . Attractive light to medium steel brown and light chocolate. Mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Just light wear on the devices with smooth surfaces and small contact marks. The notable marks are a pair of small, dull nicks on the bust tip, a few tiny ticks on the neck, and a small nick in the field off the bust tip. LDS, die state e, with rim crumbling under 182 and at stars 2-4. The overdate feature is sharp. Our grade is VF35+, close to EF40 . 36760.55/38220876
