EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 CHOICE RED & BROWN 1819 N-3

1819 N-3 R3 Close Stars, PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown . Choice lustrous mint red fading to light olive brown and steel with 25% of the mint color remaining (a 35/15% split). The surfaces are satiny and nearly flawless, and this cent has great eye appeal. A small splash of darker toning (not carbon) close to the inner curl is the best identifying mark. MDS, die state b. There is a fine die crack from the tip of the bust ending just right of the right point of star 1, and the repunching over the right top of the N in UNITED is clear. A superior example of the Close Stars type (seen on the N-3 and N-4 die varieties). Only three confirmed mint state examples are known of the Close Stars type. Noyes photo #60933. Our grade is MS63, CC#2 behind a slightly finer example of the variety. 36635.64/16855665 Ex Chris McCawley 2/3/2010-Daniel W.
