Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1

THE TERRY DENMAN COLLECTION EQUAL FINEST N-6

LOT 57 1818 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Very attractive and highly lustrous bluish steel brown and chocolate with 5-10% of the mint color remaining on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. The only marks are a trio of small parallel nicks on the end of the chin and a tiny diagonal nick off the left end of the line below CENT. LDS, die state c, with dull but strong parallel die lines (possibly from a lap stone applied to the die to smooth away a flaw) behind ICA in AMERICA and the reverse dentils weakened or missing altogether. The earlier lump inside the bottom of the C in AMERICA is gone. Doubling from die bounce shows on the tip of the nose, on the jaw near the throat, and boldly along the bottom edge of the bust. Called MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20952. Bland says MS63 and tied for CC#1 in his census. Our grade is MS63 . Comes with a nice provenance. 36616.64/83260172 Ex David Bland, Jr. Galleries-Wade Hinderling-Jack H. Beymer (via Del Bland) 6/5/1987-Dr. Robert J. Shalowitz 12/1987-R. LOT 58 1818 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved . Frosty light brown with darker steel brown on the obverse highpoints. Looks mint state, and the eye appeal is quite nice, but a glass reveals a hint of rub on the highest points of the devices. Just a few minor defects including a spot of very shallow carbon on the chin just below the mouth and another in the hair below the R in LIBERTY. Late die state, state c, similar to the preceding lot. The dentils on the reverse are weak or missing, dull parallel die lines pass through ICA in AMERICA, and the lump inside the C in AMERICA is gone. Called AU55 and tied for CC#10 in the Noyes census, his photo #21568. Our grade is AU55 . 36616.63/13092033
