Terry Denman Collection of Middle Dates Part 1

EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 SUNKEN RETAINED CUD

LOT 45 1817 N-17 R4 VG8 . A couple points sharper with a few too many light contact marks for the sharpness grade, mostly nicks in the field before the portrait. No corrosion or verdigris. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown. LDS, die state h, with a sunken retained cud break over TATE. A great intermediate die state that comes with a provenance that includes several very prominent large cent collectors.

LOT 46 1818 N-1 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved . Lustrous golden light greenish olive and steel brown with underlying faded mint color on both sides, especially on the reverse where nearly half of the fields show underlying mint red. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has great eye appeal. Just a couple marks including a hairline scratch left of the O in ONE down to the C in CENT, a spot of darker bluish steel toning over the N in ONE, and a smaller spot of similar toning under the right foot of the R in AMERICA. M-LDS, die state c early, with a void in the dentils at star 2 and narrow rim cuds above and below star 4. Noyes photo #20639. Our grade is MS60+ . 36601.64/30811026 Ex The Coin Club of Miami (Florida) Show bourse 12/1973-Jerry A. Bobbe 5/1974-Myles Z. Gerson 7/1980-R.
