 PEDIGREED S-232

LOT 194 1802 S-232 R1 NGC graded MS62 Brown. Frosty olive brown with bluish steel overtones. Sharp and very attractive with traces of fine die rust around the date, LIBERTY, and the legend outside the wreath. Just minor marks, none visible to the unaided eye. The notable marks are a fine disjointed hairline scratch across the cheek, a faint hairline curving from the center of the neck to the upper part of the bust, and a small tick on the left side of the O in OF. MDS, Breen state IV, with die clashmarks on both sides. The T over Y error in LIBERTY is clear. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says AU55 net EF45 and tied for CC#15, his photo #34110. Our grade is AU58. Comes with a great provenance that has been traced back over a century. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 3001401-002

LOT 196 1802 S-237 R2 PCGS graded AU55. Frosty medium brown and steel with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. The surfaces are a bit dull from a thin layer of natural oxidation. Just a few trivial defects including two tiny spots of very fine verdigris over the upper end of the hair ribbon and a tiny diagonal nick off the left end of the base of the L in LIBERTY. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state III early, with a die crack across the lower part of the reverse and die clashmarks on the obverse, but the crack at BERTY associated with state III has not formed. Looks like a proper brushing could uncover the underlying luster. Our grade is AU50. 1470.55/25222399
