LOT 177 1798 S-177 R4+ Small 8, Style II Hair, G4+. The obverse is G6 with a strong date, the reverse is AG3 with about two-thirds of the legends readable. Glossy olive brown and steel. Struck slightly off center to the left creating weakness on the left edge of both sides. The only mark of any significance is a dull rim nick opposite the eye. M-LDS, Breen state IV. The vertical crack up from the bust reaches the rim at the Y.
LOT 174 Pair of 1798 Cents with Style II Hair. Includes S-167 R1 Large 8 AG3, and S-175 R3 Small 8 VG7 net G5 for light roughness. The S-175 has a strong cud break at UN. Both have an easily readable date. Lot of 2 coins.

LOT 178 1798 S-183 R5 Small 8, Style II Hair, ANACS graded G6. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown and steel. Mostly smooth but a glass reveals microscopic roughness in some protected areas. No verdigris, only trivial marks including a thin nick in the field off the mouth. MDS. The date and legends are easily readable although some letters are weak. Our grade is G5+. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7464376
LOT 175 1798 S-169 R3 Small 8, Style II Hair VF20. Sharpness EF40 but there traces of fine verdigris on both sides, mostly on the reverse. A spot of fine verdigris over the first A in AMERICA can help identify this cent. Most of the obverse is smooth and the color is a partly glossy mix of light brown and reddish chocolate. LDS, Breen state V. The narrow rim cud under the 98 is clear.

Rasmussen, Heritage Auctions 1/13/2005:3204 LOT 176 1798 S-174 R2 Small 8, Style II Hair, NGC graded AU53. Glossy dark olive brown and steel. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals microscopic granularity under the glossy toning. No raised verdigris but there is a film of dark greenish patina that covers most of the planchet. The only notable contact mark is a thin diagonal hairline scratch in the field off the lower end of the hair ribbon. MDS, Breen state III, with strong die clashmarks on the reverse. Graded VF30 net F15 and tied for CC#29 in the Noyes census, his photo #34495. Graded net VF25 by Bland. Our grade is net VF25. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 508685-001
LOT 179 Trio of 1798 Cents with Style II Hair. Includes S-184 R1 F15 net VG8 for corrosion, S-185 R2 G6 net AG3 for scratches, and S-187 R1 F12 net AG3 for corrosion. All have a clear date. Lot of 3 coins.
