LOT 143 1794 S-51 R-5- Head of 1794 PCGS XF Detail (Cleaned). Tan with subtle iridescent lighter tones on some high points and a few spots on the upper cap, around the nose, and behind the hair on the obverse. Various abrasions and trivial marks scattered across the devices and surfaces of either side, nothing major but enough to warrant mention. Full, bold date and legends, nicely centered with full dentilation on both sides. Our grade is net VF30. 901374.92/42113810

LOT 144 1794 S-55 R2 PCGS graded XF40. Medium steel brown and chocolate. Sharp and attractive with a few contact marks but no roughness. The only notable marks are a rim bruise at the top of the cap, a flake or nick left of the eye, and a rim bruise left of the O in OF. Otherwise quite nice with only a few of the normally seen planchet flakes in the fields. Nicely struck MDS, Breen state II, Heck state 1, with die cracks on the obverse. LOT 145 1794 S-56 R3 PCGS graded XF45. Very attractive glossy light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown on the highpoints. No trace of corrosion or verdigris, just minor contact marks. The only significant marks are an old vertical scratch between the 9 & 4, a light scratch very well hidden along the upper edge of the cap, and a rim nick over the second T in STATES. MDS, Breen state II, Heck state 1, with clashmarks on both sides. Unevenly struck, as usual, with weakness on the lower right of the reverse, a result of that die being slightly misaligned. A very nice example of the popular “Office Boy” reverse variety, the title resulting from the poor layout of the legend on the reverse. Our grade is net VF30. Comes with a nice provenance. 901374.45/35901984
