EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 68 1785 Connecticut Miller 6.4-F.5 R6+ MBR PCGS graded VG08. Slightly glossy olive brown with lighter brown covering the devices. Covered with extremely faint roughness but there is no verdigris. Just trivial marks including a very light scuff on the jaw and a very light scratch down the seated figure. The 78 is easily readable but the other two digits are very weak. The legends are mostly clear. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 686815.08/45559030
LOT 71 1786 Connecticut Miller 2.1-A R3 MBR, ETLIB INDE type, NGC VF Details, Rev Damage. Glossy olive brown with steel brown toning on the devices. Nice except for a dent and scratch or planchet void in the center of the reverse. The dent created a bulge at the chin on the opposing side. Otherwise this piece is nice; smooth with minor marks. The date and legends are clear. Our grade is net VG10. 5974082-006
Ex Stack’s Bowers (sale date not recorded), lot 2113 (lot ticket included)
LOT 72 1786 Connecticut Miller 4.1-G R3 MBL, PCGS graded VF30. Choice glossy medium brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Smooth and nearly flawless; a thin planchet fissure on the jawline is the only defect. Nicely centered with a strong date. 331.30/38609234
LOT 69 1785 Connecticut Miller 7.1-D R4+ MBL NGC graded VF25. Glossy medium brown with darker chocolate brown in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth except for a couple shallow planchet fissures: two small ones on the neck and a longer one through the outstretched arm of the seated figure. The date is easily readable and the legends are clear. Late die state with strong swelling on the obverse. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 6844171-001
Ex Heritage Auctions #60347:53022 (lot ticket included)
LOT 73 1786 Connecticut Miller 4.1-G R3 MBL, F15+. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and free of marks or verdigris, but there are a few minor planchet fissures on both sides. Struck slightly off center to K-7. The date is complete and clear.
LOT 70 1785 Connecticut Miller 8-D R5+ MBL NGC VF Details, Improperly Cleaned. The obverse is glossy medium steel brown and light chocolate while the reverse has been cleaned and retoned dark steel brown with underlying very faded red in protected areas. No roughness or marks, but there is a trace of lacquer or glue under the arm holding the branch. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Our grade is net VF20. The attribution and Partrick provenance are noted on the NGC label. 2048943-037
LOT 74 1786 Connecticut Miller 5.3-N R2 MBL, “Hercules Head,” PCGS graded VG08. Attractive mostly glossy chocolate brown and steel with traces of lighter brown on the obverse. Mostly smooth with very nice eye appeal for the grade, but there are traces of fine verdigris in some protected areas. A small void under RI and a nick before the face of the seated figure are the notable marks. The graders were rather harsh on this one, perhaps due to the usual weakness on the reverse from to a badly worn die. 334.08/44386677
