LOT 65 1785 Connecticut Miller 4.3-A.2 R3 MBR VF25. Glossy chocolate with medium brown covering the devices. Choice if not for a few planchet flaws on the reverse, mostly confined to the seated figure. No corrosion, verdigris, or notable contact marks, but here is a minor planchet clip over ONN (as struck). The date and legends are strong. A small cud connects the shoulder to the rim below. Weight 127.8 grains.

LOT 62 1785 Connecticut Miller 3.5-B R5+ MBR VF30. Moderately glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter brown toning on the highpoints. Extremely fine granularity covers all but the highpoints. No verdigris or contact marks. There are a half dozen small planchet flaws on the obverse and a larger one in the field before the upper part of the seated figure. The date is clear and the legends are strong. Superior to the lone Ford example that was quite granular and had been cleaned. Weight 123.9 grains.

Ex Pete Boisvert 2/9/1987-George C. Perkins, Stack’s 1/12/2000:194-Neil Rothschild Collection, Early Cents Auctions 1/23/2021:10 (includes the Rothschild collection envelope and last lot ticket)

LOT 66 1785 Connecticut Miller 4.3-D R6- MBR VG10. Glossy light olive and tan blending to medium olive brown in the protected areas. The surfaces are smooth except for a couple small chips in the center of both sides and a spot of very fine verdigris in the hair under the I in AUCTORI. Not as sharply detailed as the Perkins and Ford examples but the surfaces are vastly superior, just worn. Later die state with a small cud break over the A in AUCTORI and a die crack through AU plus a larger cud connecting the shoulder to the rim. The date is clear and the legends are easily readable. Weight 143.9 grains.

LOT 63 1785 Connecticut Miller 4.1-F.4 R1 MBR “African Head,” PCGS graded F15. Choice glossy medium brown. Smooth and problem-free, just worn. A very nice mid-grade example of this “Redbook” variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 685159.15/43311645

Ex Jeff Rock (Rosa Americana, Ltd.) FPL #13-Neil Rothschild Collection, Early Cents Auctions 1/23/2021:13 (includes the Rothschild collection envelope and lot ticket)

LOT 64 1785 Connecticut Miller 4.3-A.2 R3 MBR VF25. Choice glossy medium brown blending to chocolate in protected areas. Smooth and very attractive. The only notable marks, and they are barely visible, are a couple planchet flakes in the field behind Britannia’s head and a few more on her shield. Weight 132.3 grains.

LOT 67 1785 Connecticut Miller 6.1-A.1 R5+ MBR VG7. Several points sharper but there are some dull contact marks on both sides and a small but rather deep planchet void at the T in AUCTORI (as struck). Glossy medium steel brown and olive with some reddish brown toning in protected areas on the left side of the reverse. The 17 in the date is clear but the 85 is weak. LDS with obvious swelling, especially on the right side of the reverse where those details are nearly obliterated. The attribution is noted in white ink below AUCT. Weight 116.8 grains.
