LOT 57 1774 Machin’s Halfpenny, Vlack 3-74A R5 VG8. Sharpness VF20 but there are numerous pits or planchet voids on both sides. No verdigris and the rest of the planchet is smooth with attractive glossy brown and chocolate toning. There are a few old scratches on the reverse, all blended nicely into the toning. Late die state with a strong die crack under the bust. Weight 117.2 grains. Listed on page 67 in the 2024 “Redbook.”  CHOICE 1785 CONNECTICUT

LOT 54 Pair of Higley COPIES. Includes an electrotype COPY of the famous 1737 Higley threepence “I CUT MY WAY THROUGH” F15, and a struck copy of an odd mule of a Higley obverse with a 1652 Pine Tree Shilling obverse AU55. Weights 166.7 and 112.4 grains respectively. Lot of 2 copies.

LOT 55 Dickenson-Elder Copy of the 1776 Continental Dollar, Kenney-2, VF20. Struck by Elder using the original Dickenson copy dies. The planchet is very thick, a full 4mm, and the weight is a hefty 589.2 grains.

LOT 58 1785 Connecticut Miller 1-E R4 Mailed Bust Right, PCGS graded VF25. Beautiful glossy light to medium brown. Smooth with nearly flawless surfaces and great eye appeal. The only marks are a tiny rim nick over the TO in AUCTORI and a small planchet flake at the tip of the shoulder. A straight-edge planchet clip touches the top of RI (as struck). The date is strong and the legends are complete. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is scuffed.) 685418.25/38156290

LOT 56 (1663-1672) St. Patrick Farthing, Griffee 21 4/1b, Breen-211, G5. Slightly sharper with a subtle bend in the planchet. Mostly smooth but there is microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas. Partly glossy light golden brown with steel brown in protected areas. The brass splasher on the crown is bright. The legends are readable. Weight 68.7 grains. Listed on page 38 in the 2024 “Redbook.”
