TNA HOF Collection Pt 1
LOT 1219 1848 N-16 R2 Repunched 184 EF40. Ten points sharper but recolored glossy tan and reddish brown. Mostly smooth but there are tiny specks of greenish verdigris in protected areas and planchet flakes on the edge at stars 1-4 (as struck). Rare EDS, die state a, with sharp repunching on the 184. A rare die state.

LOT 1220 1848 N-16 R2 Repunched 184 MS62. Lustrous olive and steel brown with 5% of the obverse and 15-20% of the reverse showing mint red. The surfaces are satiny and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only defects are two small ticks on the neck and a barely visible scuff on the top of the R in AMERICA. None of these marks is visible to the unaided eye. A small spot of slightly darker brown toning on the left foot of the A in STATES is a good identifying mark. E-MDS, die state b. The repunching at the 18 is gone but the lump under the 4 is clear and there are no die clashmarks. The repunching on the 4 is clear. An attractive cent, tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census.

LOT 1222 1848 N-18 R4+ VF20. Five points sharper but lightly cleaned. Glossy medium brown and chocolate with lighter coppery tan on the highpoints. Smooth with just a few tiny marks including a small nick on the rim left of star 5. MDS, die state b. The tops of the C & E in CENT are joined by crumbling but the obverse is uncracked.
LOT 1221 1848 N-17 R1 Repunched Date MS62+. Frosty light olive and steel brown with 10-15% of the mint color remaining. Virtually flawless except for a faint diagonal hairline on the neck. E-MDS, die state b. The repunching on 4 is clear but it is gone on the other three digits. The fields are slightly reflective thanks to a fresh die polishing (that removed the repunching from those three digits). A sharp, attractive cent, CC#6 for the variety in the Grellman census. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS64 Brown (PCGS label #406482.64/16210006 included, and it shows the attribution)
