LOT 286 1837 N-13 R2 Plain Hair Cord VF35. At least 5 points sharper but there are two small nicks in the field close before the eye and a planchet lamination at the rim over the E in UNITED. Otherwise quite nice with smooth surfaces and glossy light olive brown and steel toning. M-LDS.

LOT 283 1837 N-8/7 R1 Plain Hair Cord PCGS graded AU55. Attractive frosty tan and light brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. No spots or stains, and the only notable mark is a small rim nick at ES in STATES. A cent with excellent eye appeal showing just light friction on the highpoints of the devices. MDS, Grellman state c. The die lines over ERICA are weak but some are still visible (Newcomb’s #8). Our grade is EF45. 1735.55/81624185

LOT 287 1837 N-14 R2 Plain Hair Cord VF35. Five points sharper but there are small puffs of darker toning including two at the jaw and several more scattered over the reverse. There is light friction on the highpoints and no notable signs of contact. MDS.

LOT 284 1837 N-8/7 R1 Plain Hair Cord PCGS graded AU55. Frosty tan with steel brown toning on the highpoints. The only marks are two fine planchet fissures at the N un UNITED (as struck). LDS, Newcomb’s old #7. The earlier die lines on the reverse are gone. Our grade is EF45+ , close to AU50. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.

LOT 288 1837 N-15 R3 Plain Hair Cord VF20+. Sharpness VF35 but there is a strong rim nick under the 7, a small rim bruise at star 2, and another small rim bruise at the N in UNITED. Otherwise quite nice. Frosty medium brown and light reddish chocolate. MDS, Grellman state d, with die cracks on both sides.

LOT 285 1837 N-10 R1 Beaded Hair Cord EF40. Frosty tan and light olive brown. No defects, just light friction on the highpoints. MDS. The “Accessory N” feature (stray N hidden in the wreath below the N in UNITED) is clear. Removed from an ANACS slab graded AU50 (ANACS label #432601 included, and it shows the attribution).
