Rothchild Counterfeit Houston Money Show Auction January 20, 2024

VERY RARE 1830 N-9

LOT 216 1830 N-9 R6- G6. Very attractive glossy medium brown. Smooth and choice with virtually mark-free surfaces. Great eye appeal for a well-worn cent. The strike is uneven with weakness at the bottom of the reverse and right side of the obverse, as always for the variety thanks to dies that were not in perfect axial alignment (the die faces were not parallel during the strike). Only a very few of this die variety have such nice surfaces. Ex Denis W. Loring 8/1987-Dennis Mendelson, Superior 2/3/1991:402-Jack Goetz, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 9/21/1998:1497-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection 3/27/2001-Chris McCawley 9/16/2002-Scott Barrett (includes the collection envelopes of Mendelson and Ellsworth plus both lot tickets)

LOT 219 1831 N-1 R1 Large Letters VF20+. Attractive glossy chocolate brown and steel. Smooth with essentially flawless surfaces but the strike is soft. Mint frost covers the protected areas and this cent has very little actual wear. MDS.

LOT 217 1830 N-10 R4+ G6+. Close to VG7. Glossy light olive and steel brown. Smooth with only minor marks including a fine scratch under stars 6-8 and a small rim bump at the E in AMERICA. EDS.
