EXTREMELY RARE EARLY STATE 1817 N-7 “NO MOUSE”

LOT 87 1817 N-7 R6+ (as a die state) AG3. Sharpness F15 or better but dark and covered with fine to moderate roughness. No raised verdigris, only minor marks. Slightly glossy dark olive brown patina. Extremely rare EDS before the usual “Mouse” break at the top of the head. Less than 10 are known in this die state, and most are in low grade. Removed from a PCGS slab as Genuine VF Detail Exc Corrosion (PCGS label #36568.97/45686818 included and it shows the attribution).

LOT 88 1817 N-8 R2 AU55. Frosty light olive and steel brown. Sharply struck with just a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices. A nick just right of star 4 is the only mark. E-MDS with lightly flowlined fields but no hint of a “Mouse” break on top of the head.
