1800 S-202 R4+ VG7 Slightly sharper, particularly on the reverse, but retoned glossy dark steel and olive brown with traces of lighter brown in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and the only notable mark is a thin nick at the dentils before the mouth. LDS, Breen state VII, with massive failure at the curls and advanced swelling on the reverse. A remarkable die state. $400

1800 S-203 R3 VF20+ Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel with lighter brown toning in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and show only a few trivial contact marks. A tiny rim nick right of the date and a small nick in the field off the chin can help identify this cent. MDS, Breen state III, with multiple die clashmarks on both sides and swelling at TES-O. An attractive mid-grade 1800 cent, close to VF25. $2,000
