1802 S-225 R3 F15 Glossy medium chocolate brown. Smooth and quite nice for the grade in spite of some shallow dirt in protected areas. EDS but not the earliest, Breen state II, with die clashmarks but no cracks. The date and legends are complete and clear. $400

Ex W. E. Johnson-Abner Kreisberg (privately) 12’/4/1967-Phillip Van Cleave, Kagin’s 1/30/1986:5250

LOT 308 1802 S-225 R3 VF30 Glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. The only notable defects are a small patch of very fine verdigris near the rim before the throat, a tiny pinprick below the L in LIBERTY, and another in the field above the bust. None of these defects is distracting and the eye appeal of this cent is quite nice. MDS, Breen state IV, with a narrow rim cud below 802. $1,850
