Medium to dark browns on the obverse, the reverse a couple shades deeper with traces of dark, grainy crud at the second 8, star 3, and around some reverse protected areas, most notably above TE in STATES. Lot 8 1808 S-277 R-2 VF20. VF35 sharpness but there is fine granularity across the reverse with traces of shallow, old scale at ST in STATES. The obverse is smoother in appearance with a medium to dark olive patina. A dull pin scratch above star 8 is the only mark. Lot 9 1808 S-277 R-2 F15+. VF20+ sharpness but there are a few minor rim bruises along the lower obverse and over TA in STATES. There are also faint pin scratches on the portrait and obverse fields, most notably one below the jawline. Mostly glossy medium brown gently mottled with deeper steel on some fields and protected areas. Smooth surfaces.
