EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

TERMINAL S-234 “DRIPPING PAINT”

LOT 239 1802 S-234 R3 G4 . Sharpness F15 but corroded with slightly glossy but nearly black toning. No verdigris and the only mark is a dull rim nick before the lower part of the neck. Terminal die state, Breen VI late, with a strong cud break at BERT with an extension down to the top of the I. The date and legends are complete and easily readable, but the eye appeal of this cent is poor.

Ex R. Miller-Tom Reynolds-Denis Loring

LOT 240 1802 S-238 R4 G6 . Sharpness F15 but covered with light to moderate corrosion. Verdigris shows in protected areas on the reverse, strongest at STATES. A dull nick just right of the numerator is the only significant mark. Slightly glossy dark olive with lighter brown on the highpoints. E-MDS with die clashmarks on the obverse and light die cracks on the bottom of the reverse. Removed from an NGC holder as VF Details Corroded (NGC label #5201869-001 included, and it shows the attribution).

Ex Herb Silverman 1987-Bill Robertson-Steve Chappen 2015

TERMINAL STATE S-241

LOT 241 1802 S-241 R1 Stemless Wreath, Doubled Fraction Bar G6 . Mostly glossy steel and olive brown. There are some minor rim bruises on both sides and traces of fine roughness in a few protected places, but overall decent for the grade. Terminal die state, Breen V, with strong cud breaks at ATE and OF-A. The date is clear and the legends are readable.
