EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 184 1794 S-69 R3 Head of 1795 ANACS graded VG8 . Glossy chocolate and olive brown with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals extremely fine granularity under the glossy toning. The only marks are a small nick on the rim under the 7 and a tiny rim bruise right of the neck. The date is bold but the devices on the reverse are weak, perhaps a 10/3+ grade split. Our grade is G6 overall. The attribution is incorrectly shown as S-67 on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341075

LOT 181 1794 S-59 R3 AG3 . Sharpness near VG8 but the obverse is covered with small pits and the rest of the planchet has fine granularity in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris and the only notable contact marks are a dull nick in the curls under the cap and a tiny rim nick at the A in STATES. EDS with an uncracked reverse. The date is complete and easily readable as are the legends on the reverse.

LOT 182 1794 S-63 R2 G6 . Sharpness at least F12 but covered with fine roughness. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with lighter brown highpoints. No marks or verdigris. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. Struck with the reverse rotated 20 degrees clockwise.

LOT 185 1794 S-72 R2 Exact Head of 1795 VF25 . Sharpness near VF35 but a bit dark and there is a planchet flaw (void) at the rim over ERIC (as struck). Looks smooth to the unaided eye but a glass shows uniform extremely fine granularity on both sides. Frosty dark olive brown and steel. MDS, Breen state III, with fine die cracks on both sides but no clashmarks. There is a fine but clear double profile on the obverse, strongest on the date and bust.

LOT 183 1794 S-65 R1 AG3 . A point or two sharper, especially on the obverse, but covered with very fine roughness. No verdigris, only minor marks including fine hairlines scratches and several tiny rim bruises. The date is strong. Later die state with cracks and die failure on the reverse.

LOT 186 1794 S-72 R2 Exact Head of 1795 ANACS graded VG8 Details, Corroded . Rather glossy medium brown with chocolate brown in protected areas. Mostly smooth but there are shallow pits or dull contact marks on the lower part of the obverse and along the edge at OF-A. Otherwise only trivial contact marks and no notable signs of verdigris. MDS, Breen state III, with fine die cracks on both sides. The date is bold. The reverse is misaligned to K-1 leaving the legend in that area quite weak but everything else is clear. Our grade is VG8 sharpness net G6 . The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. Certificate #7341074
