EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 131 1806 C-1 R1 Small 6, No Stems PCGS graded MS63 Brown . Lustrous steel brown and chocolate with peeps of golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas on both sides. Looks mint state but a glass reveals a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The notable marks are a small spot of darker olive brown toning under the curl on the neck, a faint diagonal hairline on the cheek, and a shallow low spot (caused by debris on the die) over the A in HALF. EDS with the reverse rotated 15 degrees CCW. The rim cud break right of the fraction is strong. Our grade is AU58+, close to MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certificate #35191.63/32050385

Ex Gene Braig 10/2004-Ray Rouse, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 9/14/2008:74-Goldbergs 5/31/2015:102 (includes the last lot ticket)

LOT 132 1806 C-1 R1 Small 6, No Stems NGC graded XF45 . Frosty chocolate brown with a couple small puffs of lighter brown on both sides. No roughness, only tiny marks including a small planchet flake under the 6 and a tick under the 2 in the denominator. MDS with the reverse rotated 15 degrees clockwise. Our grade is VF35. Certificate #3671377-016

LOT 133 Group of 5 Half Cents, 1806-1851, grading VF20 to VF25+ . Includes 1806 Stemless Wreath, 1828 13-Stars (2), and 1851 (2). A couple are slightly sharper with minor defects but all are glossy brown and chocolate with smooth surfaces. Lot of 5 coins.

SHARP 1806 SMALL 6 WITH STEMS

LOT 134 1806 C-2 R4 Small 6 with Stems PCGS graded AU50 . Glossy light olive and medium brown on the obverse with olive brown toning on the reverse. Sharply struck with just a light touch of friction on the highpoints, but there are microscopic hairlines in the fields. A diagonal struck-through line under the right foot of the N in CENT (caused by a small piece of thread or wire on the die) can help identify this piece. MDS, Manley state 2.0, Fuhrman state 2, with die clashmarks at RT in LIBERTY but no die cracks. There is a shallow low spot under CEN and another under the R in AMERICA, both caused by debris/lubricant on the die. Our grade is net EF45 . A nice example of the Small 6 with Stems type. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Holder obverse scratched. See online image for better photo. Certificate #35194.50/13057026
