LOT 625 Mint Medal with Washington/Lincoln MS60 . A US Mint product to honor Washington and Lincoln, similar to dies found on some US Civil War Tokens. Weight 62.1 grains, diameter 19 millimeters.
LOT 627 1796 Silver Medal Honoring Eduard Jenner Entdecker, Discoverer of the Smallpox Vaccine AU55 . Struck in Germany with a date of 14 May 1796, the date of the first successful vaccination of a human to prevent smallpox. Elaborately engraved by Friedrich Wilhelm Loos. The obverse has a portrait of Entdecker; the reverse shows an angel, child, mother, and cow from which the vaccine was derived. A beautiful allegorical design to recognize this important milestone in medical history. Weight 143.1 grains, diameter 28.5 millimeters.

LOT 628 1796 Bronze Medal Honoring Eduard Jenner Entdecker, Discoverer of the Smallpox Vaccine MS60 . Same as the preceding lot but struck in bronze. Weight 180.1 grains, diameter 28.5 millimeters.

LOT 626 1767 Austria Maria, Theresa Smallpox Survival Medal, EF45 but plugged at top . Silver medal designed by A. Wideman and struck to celebrate the recovery from smallpox by Maria Theresa of Austria on 22 July 1767. This world leader was left with scars but survived the deadly disease. She had 16 children, and three of them died from smallpox infections. A vaccine for smallpox was discovered in 1796 (see the following lot). Struck in very high relief. Weight 539.0 grains, diameter 47 millimeters.
