EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 615 (1795) Washington North Wales Halfpenny Breen-1294, Baker-34 F12 . Variety with plain edge and a single star on either side of the harp. Glossy medium chocolate brown. Smooth and quite nice, actually looks comparable to the “Redbook” plate coin. This variety always comes weakly struck from worn dies so grading is a challenge. Listed on page 82 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 107.9 grains.

LOT 618 1779 Washington Headquarters, Morristown, NJ 1779 & 80 Baker-194a VF25 Holed . Glossy light to medium brown. Smooth and void of marks other than a hole drilled through the top of the obverse, probably for suspension. Weight 152.7 grains, diameter 27.5 millimeters.

LOT 619 1887 Washington Medal Honoring the Centennial of the Adoption of the US Constitution in White Metal MS60 . A beautiful piece with reflective fields and frosty devices. Looks like a cameo proof. There are some faint hairlines in the fields but no other defects. Sharply struck in high relief. Weight 813.0 grains, diameter 50.5 millimeters

LOT 617 1800 Washington Hero of Freedom Medal in Copper Baker-79b G4 . Glossy chocolate brown and steel with splashes of darker reddish chocolate on both sides. A few of those splashes contain traces of corrosion and verdigris. Many of the details are sharper than the assigned grade but the central part of the reverse is worn smooth. The only notable contact mark is a dig at RE in PRESIDENT on the left side of the reverse. Weight 418.7 grains, diameter 38.5 millimeters.
