EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 543 1787 Connecticut Miller 37.11-ff.2 R5 Draped Bust Left VF25 . An ET LIR variety. Glossy light brown blending to medium brown in protected areas. Mostly smooth but there are a few small planchet flaws including one in the center of the obverse and two more on the edge under the bust. The only contact mark is a fine, old scratch at LI to the top of the globe. The scratch blends perfectly into the toning and it is not a distraction. Struck slightly off center to K-8. The date is bold and the legends are easily readable. A nice example of the variety, near the lower end of the condition census. Weight 165.6 grains.

LOT 542 1787 Connecticut Miller 37.3-i R3 Draped Bust Left F12 . Slightly sharper but there are a half dozen small pits on the obverse, and they contain green verdigris. In addition there is a bit of very fine roughness in the left field on the reverse. The remainder of the planchet is smooth and the toning is a mostly glossy dark brown and reddish chocolate. Struck off center to K-7.5. The date is strong. Weight 138.0 grains.

LOT 545 1787 Connecticut Miller 43.1-Y R2 Draped Bust Left VF20 . A CONNFC variety. Glossy medium brown blending to olive brown in protected areas. Looks smooth but the planchet is covered with microscopic striations. The only mark is a tiny rim bruise at the T in ET LIR. The lower third of the date is off the planchet but everything else is clear. Weight 127.0 grains.
