EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
CERTIFIED RED & BROWN 1849
LOT 345 1849 C-1 R2 NGC graded MS63 Red & Brown . Lustrous olive brown and steel with 30% of the obverse and 5% of the reverse showing mint red. Sharply struck with the exception of the lower part of the date (which is usually a bit weak). The only notable marks are an old fingerprint at star 9 and a few microscopic ticks between the nose and star 3. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0, with faint, nearly vertical die polishing lines in the fields on both sides, clearest around the date. A very nice example of a date that seldom comes with this much original mint color. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #89169. Our grade is MS63. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. (The obverse of the holder is scuffed.). Certification Number 3239352 007
