FRED BORCHERDT’S HALL OF FAME COLLECTION 1793-1814 CENTS

LOT 304 1802 S-241 R1 Stemless Wreath with Doubled Fraction Bar VF30 . At least 5 points sharper but there is a minor stain at the lowest curl and a very light rim bruise at the T in LIBERTY. There are a couple specks of crud or verdigris at the dentils in the stained area, but you need a glass to find them. Glossy chocolate brown with slightly lighter brown in the stained area and frosty tan in protected areas on the reverse. An attractive cent in spite of the minor distractions. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a single die crack on the reverse and die clashmarks on both sides. The Stemless Wreath feature is obvious, the Doubled Fraction Bar is clear, and the repunching at the second S in STATES is bold.

Ex Ellis Robison, Stack’s 2/10/1982:429 (as VF35)-Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
