S-206 EX CLAPP-HINES-SHELDON

LOT 262 1800 S-206 R3 VF25 . Glossy olive brown and chocolate. Smooth with very nice eye appeal and the sharpness of a higher grade,, but there are a few contact marks including a couple nicks under the curl on the neck and a thin one left of the L in LIBERTY. In addition the edge has been lightly smoothed; not sure why since there is no evidence of marks on the rims. The smoothing is not visible from either the obverse or reverse. MDS, Breen state II, with die cracks on both sides. Graded VF30 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF30 net VF25 and tied for CC#8, his photo #25826. Comes with a great provenance.
