S-188 EX PARMELEE-RYDER-SHELDON-NAFTZGER

LOT 239 1799/8 S-188 R4 Overdate 9 over 8, PCGS graded VF20 . Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Smooth with light wear and very nice eye appeal. There is no trace of roughness or verdigris, only minor contact marks including a tiny rim bruise under the second 9. A small spot of lighter golden tan toning at the second T in STATES is the best identifying mark. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks but no crack on the obverse. Struck slightly off center to K-4. Graded VF25 and tied for CC#5 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF25 net VF20 and tied for CC#5, his photo #25682. Our grade is VF20+ . The date is strong and the overdate feature is obvious. Comes with a great provenance that has been traced back well over a century. 36131.20/57516992 Ex Lorin G.
