 ATTRACTIVE “DARTBOARD OBVERSE” N-9

LOT 672 1854 N-9 R2 Stray Numerals on Portrait MS62. Frosty light olive and steel brown with 15% of the planchet showing mint red. Lustrous and virtually void of marks. A dull tick on the left end of the base of the E in ONE is the only notable mark, and it is barely visible with a glass. The face and upper half of the neck are covered with extremely faint low spots, but these are not visible to the unaided eye. M-LDS, die state c early. The dies are clashed and the fields are covered with fine flowlines. The stray numerals imbedded into the portrait are clearly visible: 1 in the right side of the ear, the left side of the top of an 8 in the space right of the Y, and the bottom of a 4 in the curls over the right side of the 5. The so-called “Dartboard Obverse” variety.
