EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 VERY LATE 1794 C-5A

yes LOT 19

1794 C-5a R4+ PCGS graded VF25 . Small Edge Letters. Glossy olive brown and steel with frost in protected areas. No corrosion or verdigris but there are small contact marks scattered over both sides. A small but rather fresh tick on the end of a lower curl, a thin planchet fissure in the wreath below the T in UNITED, and a rim nick just right of the fraction are good identifying marks. Very late die state, Manley state 2.0 late, Fuhrman 3 late, with a raised cud break at the throat in addition to the usual clashmarks associated with the late state. The reverse is rotated 25 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Our grade is VF30 sharpness net VF20. A nice example of this tough variety, and the die state may appeal to the specialists among us. 1003.25/20349610
