EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

Lot 132 1794 S-64 R-5- Missing Fraction Bar PCGS VF Details (Env. Damage). Dark brown and steel brown with uniform microgranularity covering most of the surfaces except for the high points. There are a couple marks on the shoulder, otherwise trivial marks. Breen Die State II, cracked from the rim through the middle of D to the nearest outer leaf pair. 901374.97/26560643 $ 3,250

Lot 133 1794 S-64 R-5- Missing Fraction Bar PCGS VF Detail (Edge Repaired). Slightly glossy chocolate brown delicately mottled with lighter brown toning, the highpoints are a lighter shade of brown. A nicely detailed that is covered with very fine granularity on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. The only notable marks are a small dig hidden between the bottom of the cap and the hair, a shallow chip on the rim right of the second S in STATES, and two small digs near the leaf below that first S. No verdigris and this piece has good eye appeal in spite of the imperfect surfaces. EDS, Breen state I, before the reverse die cracked. Struck with the obverse die misaligned slightly to K-3. The date and legends are complete and clear, and the Missing Fraction Bar feature is obvious. A nice lower grade example of this tough “Redbook” variety. 35708.98/43386548 $ 2,950 Ex Thomas D.
