Lot 107 1794 S-54 R-3 PCGS XF Detail (Environmental Damage). Rather glossy dark olive brown and steel, nearly black. Very fine roughness covers the planchet but there is no verdigris. Lot 108 1794 S-55 R-2 PCGS XF40. Medium steel brown and chocolate. Sharp and attractive with a few contact marks but no roughness. The only notable marks are a rim bruise at the top of the cap, a flake or nick left of the eye, and a rim bruise left of the O in OF. Otherwise quite nice with only a few of the normally seen planchet flakes in the fields. There are a few minor circulation marks, including a more notable vertical scratch in front of Liberty’s ear. Struck ever so slightly off center towards 2 o’clock. Breen Die State III with the obverse die cracks through the hair to the shoulder, from the nose to the rim, and from the rim into the left field to the hair. 901374.40/42113804 $ 5,500
