Lot 29 1794 S-25 R-2 VF25+. Attractive frosty medium chocolate brown and steel toning. Near VF35 sharpness but there is a scuff of a half dozen dull scratches or scrapes on the chin, jawline, and upper part of the neck, plus a few tiny ones hidden in the hair under the earlobe. Otherwise this cent is choice with excellent eye appeal, the reverse looks like a choice XF40 with traces of frosty tan and light brown in the protected areas. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state II, with a single set of die clashmarks on both sides and no cracks. Graded VF25 and tied for CC#9 in the Bland census. Lot 30 1794 S-25 R-3+ NGC XF45. Semi-glossy chocolate and olive browns with a few nicks on Liberty’s cheek and fields as well as a rim bruise between STATES and OF. The upper right obversse and lower right reverse show the characteristic weakness almost always present on this variety. Breen Die State III.
