2024 EAC Sale

INDIANAPOLIS EAC 2024

LOT 135 1807 C-1 R1 VF25. Sharper but covered with tiny nicks, none notable but too many for the sharpness grade. The only notable defects are a small planchet void at the dentils before the neck (as struck), and a fine hairline scratch through the E in CENT. Scarce EDS, Manley state 1.0, with no die flowlines on the obverse. The repunching on the 7 is sharp.

LOT 138 1809 C-1 R4 NGC graded G6. Slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The highpoints are smooth but the rest is covered with fine roughness. No verdigris, only minor contact marks consistent with the amount of wear. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a die crack at MERICA. The date is bold and the legends are clear. Our grade is G6 sharpness net G5. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. 6703127-005

Ex 2011 EAC Sale, lot 52 (lot ticket included)

LOT 136 1807 C-1 R1 EF40. Slightly sharper with a hairline scratch from the nose to the shoulder and a couple even lighter ones hidden in the hair. Frosty steel brown and light chocolate with fine flowline luster in the fields and protected areas. LDS, Manley state 3.0. Die wear has severely weakened UNITED ST.

LOT 139 1809 C-3 R1 PCGS graded AU53, CAC Approved. Glossy light to medium brown with chocolate brown on the highpoints. Mint frost shows through in the protected areas and this piece has great eye appeal. A barely visible rim bruise right of the date and a microscopic tick left of the first A in AMERICA are the notable defects, and they are trivial. EDS, Manley state 1.0, with the reverse rotated 30 degrees CCW. Our grade is EF45. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 35224.53/37268631

LOT 137 1808 C-3 R1 Elongated Souvenir from the 1994 Detroit ANA Convention AU. The host half cent may have graded Good or so before being rolled out at the convention. The date of the hair cent can just be made out and much of the host legend remains easily readable. Frosty chocolate brown with generous traces of “mint” red remaining in protected areas on the reverse (the side with the raised convention logo design). Obvious quite rare as very few collectors would be willing to sacrifice a collectible half cent for an elongated convention souvenir.

LOT 140 1809 C-3 R1 AU50. Lustrous chocolate and lighter brown. Just a touch of friction on the highpoints. LDS with the reverse rotated 45 degrees CCW.

Ex 1997 EAC Sale, lot 71-R. Tettenhorst (The Davy Collection), McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 9/4/2011:372-William Eckberg (includes the Davy lot ticket)
