LOT 93 (1792-95) Washington Success Medal , Large Size with Reeded Edge, Breen-1282, Baker-266 EF45. Very attractive glossy brassy tan blending to brown in protected areas. Traces of frost show in protected areas on the reverse. Sharply struck and the only notable defect is a thin radial planchet fissure through the O in GEORGE. Listed on page 82 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 64.1 grains.

LOT 92 (1795) Washington Liberty and Security Penny Breen-1254 EF45+. Variety with the ASYLUM edge device. Glossy light chocolate with frosty tan in protected areas. Smooth with just light friction on the devices. The only marks are a few minor rim nicks on both sides. Weight 300.5 grains.

LOT 94 (1858) Washington Manly Medal GW-11, Baker-62b in Copper MS60+. Very attractive tan and light reddish brown. Sharply struck in high relief. No spots, stains, or marks. Dated 1790 but struck circa 1858. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS64BN (PCGS label #680711.64/37559463 included, and it shows the attribution and Historical Society of PA provenance). Diameter 49.5 millimeters.

LOT 95 1779 Admiral Keppel Vindicated Medal, Betts-564 PCGS graded XF40. Slightly glossy chocolate and golden brown, Attractive and free of defects showing only light friction on the highpoints of the devices. Admiral Keppel was subjected to a court martial in 1779 after leading a naval battle against the French off the coast of Brittany (the Battle of Ushant). He was charged with negligence but was vindicated and became a national hero in the process. (Your cataloger, a veteran military officer, has seen several instances where there appeared to be a very thin line separating an awards ceremony from a disciplinary proceeding for the same event.) Weight 275.2 grains, diameter 34.6 mm, struck in medal turn (head-to-head). 926045.40/47560336
