LOT 788 Quartet of Cents, 1854-1856. Includes one each 1854, 1855 Upright 55, 1855 Italic 55, and 1856 Italic 5. Grades range from F15 to VF20. Some are slightly sharper with minor defects. All are glossy brown and chocolate.

LOT 789 1855 N-9 R1 Italic 55, Knob-on-Ear EF40. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas. Smooth and very attractive, just lightly worn on the devices. MDS, die state d, with a well-raised “knob” break on the ear.

LOT 791 1856 N-11 R1 Upright 5 EF40. Ten points sharper with a few small spots on the reverse, and some of the spots contain specks of greenish verdigris. The only notable sign of contact is a rim bruise at ER in AMERICA. Frosty light brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel. LDS with flowlined fields.

LOT 790 1855 N-10 R1 Italic 55 VF30. Ten points sharper but there are two short scratches right of star 6 and faint traces of a fingerprint in the field behind the portrait. Glossy light olive and tan. EDS with weakness at star 6 from a die clog.

LOT 792 1857 N-1 R1 Large Date VF20. Ten points sharper but cleaned and retoning golden tan with steel brown highpoints. No notable marks. E-MDS.
