EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 737 1814 S-294 R1 Crosslet 4 PCGS VF Detail, Environmental Damage. Dull dark steel brown and chocolate with hard greenish verdigris in protected areas. Sharp but it has the look of a cent that was lost in soil for a while. MDS. Struck slightly off center to the bottom. Our grade is VF25 sharpness net VG8.

LOT 741 Trio of Cents, 1817 & 1829. Includes 1817 N-4 R3+ MDS F12 net VG8 for rim nicks, 1829 N-7 R3 Large Letters MDS (Very rare Grellman state c early without the spoke crack to the ribbon loop) VG10 net VG7 for fine granularity, and 1829 N-9 R4 Medium Letters MDS VG8. The first and last are glossy brown and chocolate, the second is dark olive and a bit dull. Lot of 3 coins.



LOT 738 1814 S-295 R1 Plain 4 F12+. Sharpness EF45 with a few patches of pitting on an otherwise smooth obverse. Fine roughness covers the reverse. Specks of greenish verdigris show in some of the pits and fine verdigris covers the protected areas on the reverse. Rather glossy chocolate brown. Nicely struck E-MDS with die clashmarks on the obverse.

LOT 742 1817 N-9 R2 Fair-2 Counterstamped. Glossy olive brown with lighter brown on the devices. Smooth with many rim bruises. Stamped in 3 lines: Numismatist/ Clement V. Schettino/Saugus, MA 01906. Stamped on both sides but the one on the obverse is uneven and incomplete.



LOT 739 1814 S-295 R1 Plain 4 VG8. The obverse is a bit weaker, the reverse stronger, perhaps a 7/10 split. Glossy medium chocolate and steel brown with perfectly smooth surfaces. The reverse is flawless but there are some marks on the obverse including a vertical scratch in the field before the face and a dull rim nick at the bust tip. M-LDS, Breen state X, with a die crack arcing through the lowest curl, clashmarks at the neck, and a lump at the junction of the neck and jaw.

LOT 743 Pair of Cents, 1817 & 1818. Includes 1817 N-15 R4 VF35 net F12 for fine to moderate granularity, and 1818 N-6 R1 F12 net VG10 for fine granularity in protected areas. Both are slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel. Lot of 2 coins.

LOT 740 1816 N-6 R2 VF25+. Attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and free of notable defects, just lightly worn. MDS, Grellman state a. The fields are flowlined but the lump on the lower loop of the 6 is clear.
