INDIANAPOLIS EAC 2024

LOT 659 1794 S-42 R4 G6. Sharpness VF30 but covered with light to moderate corrosion, strongest on the obverse. No notable marks or verdigris. Dark olive brown and steel with lighter brown highpoints and a streak of lighter brown from NE in ONE to CA in AMERICA. The date is weak but easily readable and the legends are complete. MDS.

LOT 656 1794 S-30 R1 G5. A point or two sharper but recolored mostly glossy dark olive and steel with lighter brown on some of the highpoints. Smooth except for an area of microscopic roughness in the field before the portrait. No verdigris, just minor marks. The date is strong. MDS.

LOT 660 1794 S-43 R2 G4. Sharper but there are at least a half dozen obvious pits on the obverse and each contains some reddish verdigris. Most of the planchet is reasonably smooth and there are only small contact marks, mostly rim nicks. Partly glossy olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown on the devices. Late die state, Breen V, with a very strong crack through the U in UNITED into the left side of the wreath. The date is strong and the legends are mostly clear.

LOT 657 1794 S-31 R1 AG3. Sharpness VG10 but the 9 has been crudely reengraved for no apparent reason. The surfaces are smooth and the toning is an attractive glossy medium brown and chocolate, but there are some contact marks including several fine scratches on the obverse, a dig at the E in CENT, and a rim dent at ICA. The other 3 digits in the date are clear as are the legends. EDS.

LOT 661 1794 S-57 R1 G6. Sharpness VG10 with smooth surfaces and attractive glossy medium brown toning, but there are some contact marks. The notable marks are a dull dent on the rim before the chin, another over the I in AMERICA, and several minor rim bruises elsewhere on the reverse. The bottom of the date is worn into the rim but is easily readable. The legends are clear except for weakness at the top of the reverse thanks to an uneven strike. MDS.

LOT 658 1794 S-34 R5+ Fair-2. Sharper, especially on the lower half of the reverse, but the planchet is rough and the obverse is covered with scratches. Medium brown and coppery tan with reddish brown highpoints on the lower half of the reverse. The date is gone but most of the devices on the reverse are visible and many are strong. M-LDS, Breen state III, with a die crack to the top of the cap. An ugly beast of a cent.
