LOT 526 1855 N-10 R1 Italic 55 MS60. Frosty olive brown and dark bluish steel with hints of underlying rose and lilac. Sharply struck and quite attractive. The fields are smooth and many of the fine die lines found on the proofs and earliest business strikes are still visible. The only notable marks are a spot of brighter golden toning over the I in UNITED, a pair of small planchet flakes under the N in CENT, and some microscopic roughness at the right bottom of the E in ONE. EDS, die state a late, with about half of star 6 missing due to a die clog.
