LOT 513 1853 N-1 R3 NGC graded MS63 Brown. Frosty light to medium brown with peeps of mellowed mint red in a few protected areas, mostly on the obverse. The surfaces are lustrous and this cent has very nice eye appeal. The only mark is a light vertical nick hidden in the flowlines just right of the main curl. Looks mint state but there is a hint of rub on the very highest points of the devices. M-LDS, die state b late. There is die roughness evident around the stars but the vertical die lines at the E in ONE are still visible. Our grade is AU58. 6681021-008

Ex Heritage Auctions #60334:53347 (lot ticket included)

LOT 512 1852 N-23 R5+ PCGS graded F15. Glossy medium brown and chocolate. Smooth, just worn. The only notable mark is a rim bruise at star 3. Terminal die state, die state d, with two rim cud breaks on the reverse: one at the bottom and a smaller one over AM in AMERICA. Neither rim cud is strong thanks to the amount of wear but both are partially outlined. Our grade is VG10. An acceptable example of this very rare die state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 147287.15/37565828

Sharply struck E-MDS, die state a. The die lines from the dentils at stars 2 & 4 are clear. Our grade is MS62+ , very close to MS63.
